Alberta Drug Rehab Center

A Home Away is increasingly receiving inquiries and new guests from Alberta, Canada. Whether from the larger cities of Calgary, Edmonton or Lethbridge, or smaller communities such as Grande Prairie, Cochrane, Camrose, or Fort McMurray, people suffering from alcoholism or other drug, gambling or other addictions are seeking help from Alberta.

According to the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC), alcohol continues to be the drug of choice for the majority of Albertans, which is slightly higher than for the rest of Canada. (1) In 2004, 79.5% of Albertans reported use of alcohol. In Alberta this corresponds to an estimated 1.9 million Albertans. Almost one in ten current drinkers in Alberta (9.5%) experienced one or more types of harm related to their use of alcohol. This is slightly higher than the national rate of 8.8%. Trends are similar for other forms of addiction such as gambling and gaming.

Unfortunately, despite the wealth and other progressive aspects of Alberta, there seems to be a relative lack of residential drug or alcohol rehabilitation treatment centers or other facilities. Drug detox is more readily accessible for the alcoholic or drug addict needing acute medical assistance through the initial drug withdrawal period. On the other end of the continuum of care, 12 step recovery can be maintained through the self help movement of twelve step meetings, which are abundant throughout Alberta, as is the case for the rest of Canada and the United States (US). What seems to be sorely lacking is access to effective, compassionate residential addiction treatment providing 28 day rehab programs, or more optimal 42 and 91 day treatment programs, or more extended residential care. Albertans, like many in Canada, are looking outside their borders to access privatized care. A Home Away offers the help so desperately needed, and deserved, by people affected by addiction in places such as Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Grande Prarie, and Fort McMurray.

Our guests who arrive from Alberta for help with their drug addiction, alcoholism or gambling compulsion, quickly feel at home in the beautiful Okanagan Valley setting of British Columbia (BC). A Home Away offers the highest quality, progressive, private rehabilitation program available. And for the Albertan used to the natural beauty of nature, mountains and lakes, A Home Away is, indeed, a home away from home.

If you are from Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Camrose, Hinton, Grande Prairie, Airdrie, or some other community in Alberta, if you want addiction recovery help for drugs, alcohol, gambling or other forms of addiction, you do not need to wait in line at an AADAC office; give A Home Away recovery treatment facility a call (1-866-337-3324). British Columbia (BC) is close to home and offers the hope and help of A Home Away addiction recovery treatment that may save your life, or that of a loved one.
